Set in 1476 Spain and written in the early 1600s, Fuenteovejuna is based on a true story of the people of a small village who rebel and rise up against a corrupt commander. In the tradition of Spanish comedias, the play is filled with action, music and humor. Its political themes uncannily resonate with our own times.
