As December begins, the season of holiday revelry ensues, with a number of musical events taking place this weekend.

The 60+member Village Voices Choral returns with “Here We Come A’Caroling,” “a heart-warming concert” filled with holiday favorites like “Carole of the Bells,” “Little Saint Nick” and “S’Vivon.”  Dec. 3-4 performances take place at the United Methodist Church in Westlake Village.

Christmas Magic returns to Moorpark’s High Street Art Center with cast members from past seasons sharing songs and stories of the holidays. Audiences of all ages are invited to “soak in the spirit of the season with music, stories, magic, kids and fun.”

The Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra, the Channel Islands Chorale Association, the Santa Paula High School Concert Choir, and the CSU Channel Islands University Chorus join together under the direction of KuanFen Liu for a “Holiday Spectacular.” Featured performances will include excerpts from Handel’s “Messiah,” Morten Lauridsen’s “Lux Aeterna,” and Saint-Saëns’ “Organ Symphony No 3.” See it in Camarillo on Sat, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Camarillo; and in Ventura on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.

Grammy-winning conductor Michael Christie leads New West Symphony in a celebration of the season with “Tales of Winter,” a “program of winter-inspired symphonic classics and holiday season favorites designed to bring the magic of the season to all ages.” A highlight will be “Tales of Winter” by Pauline Frechette, performed with the accompaniment of California Contemporary Ballet.  Performances take place on Saturday, Dec. 4, at the December 4 at Kavli Theatre at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center in Thousand Oaks; and on Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Rancho Campana Performing Arts Center in Camarillo.
