The city of Oxnard’s Community Relations Commission (CRC) is now accepting nominations for the 2021 Community Recognition Awards Program, which recognizes groups or individuals in the city who have “furthered human relations” in Oxnard.

The CRC advises the city and works to promote “mutual understanding and respect among all minority and non-minority groups,” and seeks to facilitate “inter-group harmony through educational and cultural activities.”

The awards have been given since 1989 and recognize a winner in five categories: youth, senior, individual, business and nonprofit organization. The CRC will review all nominations and select a winner in each category.

The deadline to submit nominations is 5 p.m., Monday, Oct. 4. Winners will be recognized in November at an Oxnard City Council meeting.

Details and nomination forms are online at or at the City Manager’s Office, located at 300 West Third Street, 4th Floor. Forms may be submitted by mail, via email to, or by fax at 805-385-7434.
