A 15-plus acre fire, dubbed the Skyline Incident by Ventura County Fire Department officials, began burning at approximatley 4:30 p.m. Monday in the hills behind Arroyo Verde Park. At least 150 firefighters were called to the scene along with fixed wing airplaines.
By 7 p.m. the fire department had a 70 percent containment line, but this does not mean the fire is under control. Officials said they were "making good progress."
Firefighters are using Arroyo Verde Park as a staging area and drivers are being asked to keep Foothill Road clear between Day and Victoria.
As of 7 p.m. airplanes had made successful water drops and no structures have been threatened.
This is a developing story and conditions can change based on wind and other factors.
