Ventura County Rainbow Alliance: food pantry help (Ventura)
We need folks willing and able to lift, lug and bag groceries. A few hours each week during the day. For more information, go to www.lgbtventura.org or contact Jay Smith t 653-5711.

Lighthouse Emergency Shelter: staff assistance (Oxnard)
Assist staff with clients, donation intake, cleanup, food preparation, answering door and phone, organizing supply closets, reading to children. Must be at least 21 years of age. Contact Mary Kay Huszar at 436-4555.

Food Share: gleaner to pick leftover produce (countywide)
Volunteers generally pick fruit and vegetables from local area ranches and backyards for two hours at a time in various parts of the county. Must wear comfortable, sturdy shoes, sunscreen, hat and bring an assortment of gloves and a five-gallon bucket, if available. Contact Meg Horton at 983-7100, ext. 105

Roze Room Hospice: those with caring hearts needed (Ventura)
Hospice volunteers provide companionship to terminally ill patients and help family caregivers in a variety of ways.

Patient/family care volunteers must be 18 years or older. Contact Carolyn Warren at 654-0191.

Moorpark Family Resource Center: teens to read to young children (Moorpark)

High school students wanted to read to young children at our Reading Buddies Club at the Moorpark Family Resource Center on Wednesday afternoons. Each volunteer is paired with a child, one-on-one. Two hours of volunteer service are designed to include a half-hour of setting up, one hour of reading or playing with the child, and a half-hour of cleanup.

Rescue Mission: kitchen assistance (Ventura)

We need kitchen volunteers to assist with kitchen duties. Please make sure that you wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, and long hair must be put up. We also require that anyone using sharp utensils be a minimum of 18 years old.
