Hot Chip London’s Hot Chip first rose to prominence in their native land in 2006 with the infectious electro-pop single “Over and Over,” but the group actually formed in 2000, self-releasing albums for years before signing with uber-hip indie dance imprint DFA in 2005 and dropping The Warning, the record featuring their breakthrough smash, which was named Single of the Year by influential English music mag NME. The album itself ranked number four on that publication’s list, number one in Mixmag and was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize. On the cusp of dropping their third official record, Made in the Dark, the band plays the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles on Feb. 4.
