Robinson named county CEO In a 5-0 vote the Ventura County Board of Supervisors on Dec. 19 elected Marty Robinson to be the county’s next chief executive officer. Robinson, who serves now as assistant county executive officer, will take office when CEO Johnny Johnson retires in March 2008. She will be the county’s first woman CEO. “As I sail off into the sunset it gives me comfort to know that everybody is pulling together,” Johnson said after congratulating Robinson at the meeting. The Board of Supervisors interviewed six other candidates for the position before selecting Robinson. “It was a rigorous process that we went thorough, and we feel great about having you on board and great about the leadership abilities that you’re going to bring to this county to move us forward as a 21st century county,” 1st District Supervisor Steve Bennett told Robinson. Motel forced to close Ventura health and safety inspectors shut down Traveler’s Beach Inn on Dec. 18 after authorities acting on a complaint from a resident found an infestation of bedbugs and a host of electrical problems at the 929 E. Thompson Blvd. low-rent motel. The motel, which serves as long-term housing for some low-income tenants, will remain closed until at least Dec. 26, while pest-control and electrical contractors work to remedy the health and safety problems.
