DE COLORES MUSIC FUNDRAISER Saturday, Aug. 10, 3-10 p.m. You may or may not be familiar with De Colores, the now-defunct annual art event founded and facilitated by Xavier Montes that celebrated Hispanic culture. Montes, an accomplished musician and beloved humanitarian, has shifted his focus from visual art to music, and his ever-expanding cadre of young music students is outgrowing the spaces that teacher and students have been using as makeshift classrooms. Together, they are attempting to raise money for a new location where they can continue to benefit from their mentor’s wealth of musical knowledge and kind-hearted guidance. The fundraiser, to be held at the Casa del Mexicano will feature live entertainment by the De Colores music students, Big X (Montes) and Friends, Mariachi Inlakech from Oxnard, Angels on Harp, and Ballet Folklorico Alma de Mexico. Food will be provided by Los Arcos Restaurant. $10 for adults, $5 children younger than 17, free to children younger than 5. Tax-deductable donations can be made to the Santa Paula Art Museum/strings program. 218 S. 11th St., Santa Paula.
