WESTSIDE ARTWALK July 21-22. An annual free, self-guided tour of dozens of galleries, studios and pop-up venues in Ventura’s Westside Cultural District and Downtown area. A signature event for Ventura for many years, which brought in cultural tourists from all over, it is now being run by an all-volunteer group that has added new life to the event. Special events include a Bowl Hop (purchase an original bowl made by a local artist and use it to sample local cuisine in downtown restaurants. Proceeds go to FOOD SHARE); Focus on the Masters fundraising auction featuring original artwork from some of the most prestigious artists in our community, gift certificates to Ventura’s leading restaurants, spa packages and other fabulous gifts; a party with live music and food sponsored by Green Art People at Stoneworks Studios; an Arty Party at the Museum of Ventura County to celebrate their artists Dianne Bennett and the Studio Channel Islands Art Center; work by Chuck Trunks (pictured) and live tattooing at Fox Fine Jewelry and VCReporter’s showcase of art by people with autism. TROPICAL DAZE SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL Saturday, July 21, and Sunday, July 22, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Enjoy live surf, Caribbean, reggae and island music at the Fourth Annual Tropical Daze Summer Music Festival at the Thousand Oaks Community Park, 2525 Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks. The two-day festival features plenty of tropical entertainment, food and more than 75 tropical-themed vendors. A free children’s activity area with hands-on games and arts and crafts is perfect for families with young children. Exotic birds, including macaws, cockatoos, parakeets, kookaburras, cockatiels, soft bills and peacocks, will be on display. Hula dancers, Samoan fire dancers and Tahitian drummers will bring the tales and legends of the Polynesian islands to life. Admission is $5. Kids 5 and younger are free. Luau admission is $38 per person, $48 for VIP seating. Tickets can be purchased in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door.
