Dirty girls: Faith Mori kicks some mud around in celebration as she approaches the finish line of the Dirty Girl Mud Run. The Dirty Girl Mud Run, a 5k obstacle course full of dirty, muddy girls, came to Santa Paula/Ojai last weekend. A portion of the registration proceeds go to supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Mission Plaza tenants united for a Safe and Clean Ventura: Tenants of Mission Plaza in Downtown Ventura have joined forces with community leaders to support the Safe and Clean Ventura initiative, which focuses on preserving an easy, pleasant and safe shopping experience. Tenants had been losing customers due to vagrancy and aggressive panhandling, causing a major concern about the tenants’ future. A few months ago, all of the tenants pitched in to hire Draganchuk Security as well as hand out cards to customers that addressed ending panhandling. Last week, community leaders joined the tenants for a public announcement, discussing the homeless situation and the Safe and Clean Ventura effort. Safe and Clean Ventura banners have been posted on street lights throughout the shopping district.
